WATERCOLOUR MATERIALS LIST
EASEL: portable, light weight, sturdy easel
WATERCOLOUR PALETTE: and 2 water containers
PAINTS: Convenience colours you like to paint with PLUS a warm and a cool of each of the three primary colours ie:
Cadmium Yellow Medium or Indian Yellow or Raw Sienna or Burnt Umber
Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon Yellow
Rose Madder Quinacridone
Cadmium Red Light or Cadmium Scarlett
French Ultramarine Blue
Pthalo Blue or Cerulean Blue
Note: In addition please check your teacher’s paint recommendations etc.
Arches 140lb watercolour paper (11x15), Cold Pressed or Hot Pressed or the type specified by your teacher (20 pieces). Note: larger size paper can be cut down for smaller paintings
2” Robert Simmons Wash brush OR 8” Mop brush
#12 Watercolour brush
#10 Watercolour brush
#3 Rigger brush all synthetic or natural bristle as you prefer.
SKETCH BOOKS AND SOFT PENCIL (2B, 4B + 6B):
Sketch Book: (8x11) Sketch book
Sharpies pens (fine), charcoal, a sharpener, kneaded eraser and ruler
STUDIO REFERENCE MATERIAL: Bring a selection of reference photos for studio rain days. The larger the size and variety of subjects the better. Have at least a dozen to choose from.
OTHER ART MATERIALS AND MISCELLANEOUS:
Water container to clean brushes
Paper towels and or rags
Plastic bag to collect your garbage
Light weight bag or back pack to carry your equipment and lunch etc.
Sun hat, sun screen, bug spray
Light weight, portable chair/stool (can be used to set palette on or if you prefer to sit and paint)
Lunch, snacks & water for drinking
Wear neutral colours, comfortable tops with long sleeves and light pants with sox and shoes
Baby wipes to clean your hands before lunch
